E-club gives some very useful tips for everyone

We are working harder than we use to. Sometimes it seems like our working week is getting longer and longer and it leads us to the feeling of stress. This arouses a very simple question: what to do to avoid this feeling and how to relax after work? Let‘s have a look at what our E-club participants Teresė, Regina and Gerda suggest for everyone:

  •         Stay alone and write something (a poem, a diary entry).
  •         Dance alone when nobody is there.
  •         Read some books.
  •         Learn English with Kalbis.
  •         Watch a good movie.
  •         Dream more or start meditating.
  •         Go fishing with your husband if it is not a torture for you.
  •         Spend time outside and be more active.
  •         Work in the garden, because there is a mysterious connection between you and the ground.
  •         Alcohol is not the solution!
  •         Do not lie down and complain after work, do something: go for a walk, read a book, listen to music, ride a bike, make good dinner, surprise your family etc.

Atostogų rašinėlio konkursas

My best holidays

I thought for a long time which holidays for me were the most memorable. It is hard to choose one particular holiday. I believe that the best holidays are those that you have at the moment.
I remember my childhood holidays in Lithuanian village. It was wonderful to put the strawberries on the bent and make a present to my uncle Petras when he celebrated the name-day. It was fun to sit in the carriage and go to my aunt and cousins, trample the hay, feed the calf, wander around the forest and swim in the lake which was located in the middle of the forest…
What wonderful holidays are when all children and grandchildren visit grandparents’ home together… We all sit down next to the fire in the evening, talk, sing the songs… What a wonderful and mysterious Feast of St John traditions! We celebrate it like this for about 20 years now and we always come back to be together. Sometimes not all of us can meet. But I know that in our minds we are together. Our children summers are our best holidays.
I remember the first travel to Cyprus with my son. He remembers this time too, we talked about it. Cyprus attracts with its beaches, myths, you fell in love with the mountains, rocky coast and nearly year-around flowering gardens…
It's fun to travel, to see how wonderful Lithuania is, its nature, green forests, wild lakes, the Curonian Spit. I did not believe that in the Curonian Spit near Juodkrantė there are places available for wildlife where you may forget that there is a civilization. It is incomparable. Long walks on foot through the dunes - and you discover peace, dreams and indescribable feeling of bliss...

Atostogų rašinėlio konkursas

My best holidays

I like travelling. I have visited many countries inside Europe and in other continents. In my opinion, the best thing that travelling experience teaches is the understanding that a single person is only a small part in the world. This understanding taught me to be more tolerant.

When I was a student I used to travel a lot. Once, my roommate and I went on a tour by foot along Ūlos, Merkys and Nemunas rivers shores. We were late, so we had to catch up with the group that started its trip the day before. We started our trip in the old village Marcinkonys. As it was dark and raining, we lost our way and decided to return to Vilnius. Luckily, one woman suggested staying at her house. She gave us warm tea and dry clothes.  We were very grateful.

Next morning we crossed the little river with hanging bridge and found the group. When we were going along romantic Ūla, we saw steep river banks, wide grasslands. In the middle Ūla turns into a valley and flows through old villages hidden in Gudu wood. I think Ūla is the most beautiful river in Lithuania.

We also climbed up to Merkine’s mound near Merkines River. All the nights we spent in tents, made campfires, sang many Lithuanian songs about the past of our country, which were suppressed and forbidden in soviet time.

To walk 140 kilometers by the river bands in four days wasn’t an easy task for girls. Therefore, we were proud of ourselves when we reached our aim. This trip made me realize that our country’s nature is beautiful. Now, once I have a free weekend I try to visit some little towns or cities and to find some small lovely details in the nature.

Atostogų rašinėlio konkursas

My best holidays

“I am sitting in the tent at the height of 4 km seeing just rocks and snow around and preparing for the overnight. Today is Saturday. But it doesn’t mean anything because I am in Caucasus Mountains. Today we woke up at 5 a.m. and we were planning to go to the summit, but it was raining very heavily and we decided to sleep till 8 a.m. It was rainy all day so we stayed in our camp.” It is a small fragment from my diary. I know it is hard to believe that someone chooses cold, severe weather conditions and obscurity during summer holidays.

Being in the mountains is very easy. We keep running away from civilization, communication and information overload. Here we forget all the convenience, but we rediscover nature.

Some people are wondering why others are going to the mountains. Is it really funny to carry a rucksack weighting around 25 kg, sleep in a tent on the rocks or snow, be often hungry or feel obscurity? But my answer is really easy. I agree with the opinion of other travelers “we go to the mountains because they are”. Everyone chooses different way of holidays. For me the best holidays are to go further from the comfort zone, to purify thoughts and to recover spiritually.
